Hi! My name is Tim Stone. I’m sure that comes as no surprise, since you’re on timstone.photo. I’m an accomplished photographer and astrophotographer. I say “accomplished,” but photography is like anything else: the more you know about it, the more you realize how little you know. Ok, but let’s not get all zen-ish about this.
I love photography. Some of my earliest memories as a child are of taking pictures with a Kodak DuoFlex camera, which took 620 roll film. I still have a few of those pictures. I’ve taken pictures all my life, which at this point is 60+ years in length. I’ve photographed all kinds of genres, including Nature and Landscape, Fashion, Street, Travel, Weddings, Portraiture, amongst the more notable.
I’ve always been an astronomer. My passion for astronomy has always gone hand-in-hand with my passion for photography. I’ve tried for much of my life to make good astrophotos, but just never had the right equipment for the task. Six years ago I discovered the magnificent equipment available through my local astronomy club, Twin City Amateur Astronomers, and the rest is history.
Astronomy and photography are now a single pursuit for me. I take pictures of deep sky and solar system objects, and am delving into alternative types of astronomical imaging such as spectroscopy. This site is where you can get prints of some of my astronomical images, and perhaps at some point even some of my terrestrial images.
